Both the grant proposal and the research article contain descriptive titles. They are obvious titles that represent the overview of the topic. The research article contains two different tables in order to help highlight the statistical aspects of the study. The grant proposal does not contain and images, perhaps because they text and the analysis of funding is far more important. The research article uses more qualifiers and modifiers than the grant proposal. The most qualifiers and modifiers are used in the introductory section of the research article. After comparing the research article and the grant proposal, it is evident that the research article dedicates more time towards reviewing the limitations. However, the grant proposal sounds more confident because they do a great job at implementing background information on their research, rather than filling in the information as they continue, like the research article did. Researchers and students who pursue psychology research and write grant proposals develop writing conventions in order to intrinsically support crucial standards involving their field of study. Important sections for both research articles and grant proposals involve an abstract and an introduction. An apprehensive approach in the writing versus a confident one will establish the reader’s interest in supporting them. When writing a research article, providing two different types of studies can assist in expanding the perception of the study to the reader in order to get greater depth in how the research will support the hypotheses. Good Scientific Writing 1. The attributes that depict good scientific writing involve efficient communication. The ultimate goal is for the writer develop the craft of condensing complex ideas into comprehensive ideas for the public to comprehend. Efficient research is necessary to ensure all areas of a subject are well understood. 2. As a Bio-Psychology Major, I feel more confident with the areas involving psychology. 3. I feel insecure about Biology and Chemistry based areas because I am barely taking those courses at the moment. 4. One thing I would like to get out of this course would be gaining confident in communicating large biology concepts into a simple and efficient manner.
